Go Green

America is shifting to a "green culture" where all 300 million citizens are embracing the fact that environmental responsibility is everyone's responsibility.  Most of us understand that we need to do something, that is why Marketplace at Birdcage has implemented and/or is researching ways we can help protected the future of earth.

Some of the programs we have implemented or are in the process of researching are:

bullet We are landscape conscious and strive to enhance and add landscaping wherever possible.
bullet We recycle cardboard in green bins located in the common area trash enclosures.
bullet We are looking into a center-wide lighting retrofit.
bullet We are looking into a can & bottle recycling program.

By making a few small changes we can do our part.  But what can you do?  Here is a list of simple things you can do today to reduce your ecological footprint:

  • Use fabric re-usable shopping bags instead of paper or plastic.
  • Recycle cans and bottles.
  • Buy CFL lightbulbs.
  • Make it a habit to turn off your computer—and the power strip it's plugged into—when you leave for the day.
  • Buy recycled paper, toilet paper, etc . . . whenever you can!
  • Buy organic foods.
  • Pack a Waste-free Lunch. Reuse containers and reduce waste.
