Since
1997, The Capitol Pops Concert Band (CPCB) has
performed a diverse portfolio of high-quality,
well-prepared music for thousands of
concert-goers throughout Northern California.
Based in Fair Oaks, California, the band has
been under the leadership of Director Jerry
Lopes since its inception. It's a
self-supporting, all-volunteer band of some 70
members, including students, and the musicians
represent a wide cross-section of greater
metropolitan Sacramento area. Band members range
from high-school age to octogenarian. Always on
the lookout for musical talent, the CPCB aims to
promote and sponsor student participation in the
band. Tax deductible donations to the CPCB
scholarship fund provide private music lessons
for interested students.
The band was certified a California Public
Benefit Corporation in March 2003 and granted
federal nonprofit status in June 2004. Band
business is overseen by a CPCB Council elected
by the membership, and the band is a member of
the Sacramento Valley Symphonic Band Association
and the Association of Concert Bands. More
information on CPCB activities and public
concert dates can be obtained by calling (916)
